Jeremiah 18:3-4: “3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the [a]wheel. 4 And the vessel that he [b]made of clay was [c]marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.”
When it comes to the growth mindset, we used phrases like, “trust the process” and “yet”. The question is, do we really have the patience to wait out the process? How about the idea that “yet” might not fit into our time frame? When it comes to the growth mindset, I think of my life as a Christian man. I am not always patient. I am definitely not pleased with “yet”. There are times when our lives are being shaped, and as they’re being shaped, the events that are shaping them don’t always feel good. Even if I was in control, I still wouldn’t be able to get everything that I want, how I want it, and when I want it. As it relates to our students, we need to be very mindful to reinforce with them daily that frustrations will come and go. If we really care as teachers, we need to make sure that our “process” is for their benefit. When they are able to trust the process, the potter will turn the clay into a beautiful piece of pottery.
